Talking tyres - everything you need to know about trailer wheels to keep your business moving
Our Knott-Avonride brake (or bowden) cables are fitted to a huge number of trailers and other items of towed equipment, and are especially used on Ifor Williams trailers, CompAir and Ingersoll Rand compressors, Bateson trailers, Meredith & Eyre trailers, and many others. Our standard Knott detachable brake cables have a 3.5mm diameter inner cable and are used for the more common smaller Knott brake shoe sizes, whereas our heavy-duty Knott brake cables have a 5mm diameter inner cable and are especially used with the larger brake sizes such as 300 x 60mm.
Knott have recently introduced their Pronto-Fit quick-release style brake cables which are used with a quick-release compensator. These are now being fitted to Western Global equipment as standard, and some portable compressors, but are likely to be increasingly used going forwards.
Our stainless steel Knott brake cables have a blue outer sheathing, and offer extra resilience because the inner wire is constructed from stainless steel for longer life. These are especially used on boat trailers and other hard-wearing applications.
Please check the end types, and measure the length of the black (or blue) sheathed outer cable (including where it is crimped into the end fittings), and the length of the inner cable, to determine which cable you need to order.
