Talking tyres - everything you need to know about trailer wheels to keep your business moving
Since October 2012, all new-build small trailers are required by law to conform to the new EU Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval legislation. One of the implications of this legislation is that all new trailers must be fitted with a reverse lamp.
Consequently the old 7-pin socket arrangement was no longer a viable option, and trailer manufacturers needed a new wiring arrangement which allowed for 8 cores of cable. The result was the new 8-pin plugs and sockets, which are derived from the old European style 13-pin plugs and sockets with 5 of the pins not used.
Below we list a number of products which allow connectivity between the new 8-pin electrical systems, including a coiled lead which is used specifically on Ifor Williams trailers.
